The Durfee Hilltoppers pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Somerset Berkley Regional. While losing is never fun, Durfee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Somerset Berkley Regional is ranked seventh).
Somerset Berkley Regional's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Finnian Bjork, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 21 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maxwell Finlaw, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Durfee's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Somerset Berkley Regional, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Durfee will be playing at home against Brockton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Somerset Berkley Regional, they will head out on the road to take on Mt. Hope at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Hope and Somerset Berkley Regional are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
