Even though the Maxwell Panthers have not done well against the Williams Yellowjackets recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Maxwell had just enough and edged the Yellowjackets out 54-52. This was payback for Maxwell, who suffered a 45-43 loss the last time these two teams met.
Williams' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyden Bowen, who scored 30 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Murillo, who scored 16 points.
Maxwell pushed their record up to 9-12 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Williams, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maxwell will square off against the Lynx at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. CORE Butte is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Williams, they will head out on the road to take on the Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hamilton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
