The Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines and the Swainsboro Tigers will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
Woodville-Tompkins is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Vidalia on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Woodville-Tompkins had to suffer through a 70-31 loss at the hands of Vidalia. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 437th, while the Indians are ranked 110th).

The losing side was boosted by Leiera Pusha, who posted six points along with 16 rebounds and five steals. Those 16 boards gave her a new career-high. Cassidy Freeman was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.
Even though they lost, Woodville-Tompkins smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Swainsboro, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Savannah Christian 63-26 on Friday. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.
Swainsboro's win came from a few key players Woodville-Tompkins will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kimiya Freeman, who went 7 of 10 on her way to 18 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tonia Ricks, who had 18 points.
Woodville-Tompkins dropped their record down to 4-18 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Swainsboro, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-12.
Keep an eye on the arc in Saturday's matchup: Woodville-Tompkins has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 44.4% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Swainsboro, though, as they've only made 21.8% of their three-pointers this season. Given Woodville-Tompkins' sizable advantage in that area, Swainsboro will need to find a way to close that gap.
Woodville-Tompkins might still be hurting after the 48-22 defeat they got from Swainsboro in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Woodville-Tompkins was down 30-8.
