The Long Branch Green Wave will challenge the Holmdel Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Long Branch has given up an average of 9.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Long Branch and Shore Regional, and Shore Regional kept the tradition alive. The defeat continues a trend for the Green Wave in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost seven in a row.

Jaylen Brooks made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Campbell, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Holmdel nor Freehold Boro made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Hornets never let the Colonials get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Six seems to be a good number for the Hornets as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
The result came thanks to Dylan Zammit's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Logan Cardinoza and Nick Rakoski did most of the damage at the plate: Cardinoza went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Rakoski went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two hits gave Cardinoza a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matt Iulo, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The win was the third in a row for Holmdel, bringing their record up to 9-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Long Branch, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Long Branch suffered a grim 18-4 defeat to Holmdel when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Green Wave have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
