The Iowa Colony Pioneers will face off against the Chapel Hill Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Iowa Colony extended their postseason success on Friday against Lindale. They blew past the Eagles 45-22. The win was just business as usual for Iowa Colony, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.
Iowa Colony got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacody Miles out in front who picked up 104 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Aaron Tenner, who rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Chapel Hill over El Campo in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Chapel Hill blew El Campo out of the water with a 54-18 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-12.
Rickey Stewart was his usual excellent self, rushing for 222 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per carry. Stewart hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Demetrius Brisbon jr, who threw for 141 yards and four touchdowns.
Iowa Colony's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.7 points per game. As for Chapel Hill, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Iowa Colony has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 199.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Chapel Hill struggles in that department as they've been even better at 323.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
