The Morgan Huskies had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 45-36 win over Cromwell on Thursday. For Morgan, this counts as revenge for the 45-26 loss Cromwell walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.
Morgan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Johnson led the charge by scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Victoria O'Neill, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.
Morgan's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Cromwell, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morgan will square off against Old Saybrook at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cromwell, they will head out on the road to face off against North Branford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
