Neshannock is a perfect 10-0 against New Brighton since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Lancers will host the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Neshannock is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Neshannock's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Riverside. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.
Addy Frye was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up a single earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Neshannock got a massive performance out of Gabby Quinn, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Payton Newman was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Neshannock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverside only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three games, New Brighton finally came back down to earth on Wednesday. They lost 16-0 to Shenango. The Lions' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Neshannock's win was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for New Brighton, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Neshannock has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .572. However, it's not like New Brighton struggles in that department as they've averaged .511. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
