The Silver Fighting Colts will square off against the Aztec Tigers at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Silver is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past St. Pius X 11-1. The Fighting Colts are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 11 straight.
Brailyn Lopez was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabell Villa, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Aztec made easy work of Goddard on Saturday and carried off a 14-3 win. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Kamora Henry was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Aztec got a massive performance out of Reagan Bradshaw, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Christina Whitehorse was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Aztec always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Goddard only posted an OBP of .400.
Silver pushed their record up to 24-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Aztec, their win bumped their record up to 18-11.
Silver took their victory against Aztec in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 15-1 score. Will the Fighting Colts repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
