The Piketon Redstreaks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 50-33 fall against Jackson. While losing is never fun, Piketon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 498th, while Jackson is ranked 91st).
Kenzie Davis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Jackson, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Davis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Mattie Walburn was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Piketon has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Jackson, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piketon will face off against Paint Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Paint Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Friday. As for Jackson, they will head out on the road to face off against Waverly at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
