Linden is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Holly is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will welcome the Bronchos at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Linden is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Linden is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since April 28th on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Portage Central 4-3.
Kayla Widner (2025) was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Widner (2025) was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan Piotrovsky (2025), who went 2-for-3 with one home run. Sophia Helm (2025) was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Linden lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Holly was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They fell just short of Ithaca by a score of 4-2. The Bronchos haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Alyssa Bowman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits.
At the plate, Holly saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Molly Charboneau (SVSU), who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.
Holly's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Linden, their win bumped their record up to 21-2.
Holly's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Linden has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Holly, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Linden keep running through batters, or will the Bronchos buck the trend?
Everything went Linden's way against Holly when the teams last played back in April, as Linden made off with a 12-4 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bronchos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
