The Mathews Blue Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Essex Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Malajiah Carey was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Carey was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Kenedi Campbell was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing six bases while going 4-for-4. Those hits marked the first that she got this season. Another player making a difference was ANasia Harris, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.
Essex always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .846. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Mathews now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Essex, their record now sits at 2-5.
