Halstead has enjoyed a six-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Hesston Swathers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Halstead will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Swathers are ranked 18th).
On Friday, Halstead didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Indians, but they still walked away with a 47-42 win.
Meanwhile, Hesston put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Hoisington with a sharp 48-27 victory. The victory was familiar territory for Hesston who now have three in a row.
Hesston can attribute much of their success to Reed Friesen, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two blocks, and Adrian Hernandez, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Karter Gonzalez, who scored eight points.
Halstead's record now sits at 4-10. As for Hesston, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2.
Halstead was dealt a bruising 69-19 loss at the hands of the Swathers in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Halstead avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
