5A North Metro recap Oct. 3, 2012
Fairview suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 57-14 loss to Ralston Valley. The Knights had been ranked 25th, but fell to 36 following the defeat.
Pomona took down Boulder 51-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Alec Feland threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
The Mustangs' dynamic duo of Jacob Knipp and Spencer Svejcar proved tough for Fairview to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Knipp threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns and Svejcar had 96 yards receiving. Hunter Price helped Ralston Valley's passing attack out by catching two balls for 36 yards.
Phydell Paris was the most productive running back in 5A North Metro this week. In 28 carries, he ran for 132 yards as Legacy beat Tom Mccartney's team. Teammate Jake Bublitz added to the ground attack by rushing for 54 yards.
The Knights' Johnny Feauto and Sam Martin have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Feauto has thrown for 1595 yards this season, while Martin, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 35 catches for 531 yards. Paris from the Lightning leads the league in rushing with 607 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Panthers take on Matt Loyd's team. As it stands, Boulder is in fifth, while the Mustangs are in first.
Ralston Valley led 5A North Metro in scoring this week after putting up 57 points on Fairview. Knipp ran for 52 yards in the win.
