It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Granite Hills Eagles had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They slipped by the Hornets 27-26. Granite Hills' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Granite Hills was led to victory by Zachary Benitez and Josh Zander. Benitez threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns, while Zander picked up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Zander's longest reception was for an incredible 86 yards.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Akili Smith Jr., who threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Cj Williams jr., who gained 172 total yards.
Granite Hills' victory bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-1.
Granite Hills will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mission Viejo at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Mission Viejo has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 217 points over their last five matches. Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
