Cornerstone Christian stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They blew past Calvary Baptist 45-12 at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Cornerstone Christian's 11-point performance the game before.
Cornerstone Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matthew Huffman led the charge by rushing for 50 yards and two touchdowns. Lukas Judnick also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Cornerstone Christian's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Calvary Baptist's QB won't forget Jeremy Farr anytime soon given Farr sacked him five times.
Meanwhile, Lancaster Baptist might've scored the first points on Thursday, but it was Santa Clarita Christian who claimed the real prize. Lancaster Baptist was beaten by Santa Clarita Christian 40-12. It was the first time this season that Lancaster Baptist let down their fans at home.
Cornerstone Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Lancaster Baptist, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Cornerstone Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lancaster Baptist struggles in that department as they've been even better at 178.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
