The Ridgeline Riverhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Westlake Thunder at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Ridgeline is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Ridgeline is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Bountiful, who was ranked eighth at the time (Ridgeline was ranked 19th). The Riverhawks had just enough and edged out the RedHawks 5-4. The Riverhawks haven't had any issues with the RedHawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Ava Buttars, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Westlake came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Utes.
Brilynn Attebery spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Westlake saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Hilton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Audrey Sherman was another, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Westlake pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgeline, they now have a winning record of 14-13.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Ridgeline hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Westlake struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
