Baseball Game Preview: Twin Falls Bruins vs. Minico Spartans

Twin Falls has gone 8-2 against Minico recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bruins will be playing at home against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Twin Falls has three straight victories, Minico has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Twin Falls is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Burley, who was ranked 17th at the time (Twin Falls was ranked 15th). The Bruins put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 13-2 win on Saturday. Considering the Bruins have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Treyson Walker looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ryker Rex was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hoyt Murray, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Minico came up short against Mountain Home on Friday and fell 7-3.

Minico also got a good showing from Cayden Fletcher, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Jalyx Guzman was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Cody Carlson was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Twin Falls' victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Minico, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Twin Falls couldn't quite finish off Minico in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
