Leading Academy of the Holy Names to victory were Lucy Morey and Sam Castro. Morey scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals, while Castro scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Hailey Scott, who scored 12 points along with 9 rebounds.
Academy of the Holy Names' victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Newsome, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Academy of the Holy Names will face off against Robinson at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Newsome, they will head out on the road to face off against Plant City at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
