Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Poway). They put the hurt on the El Camino Wildcats with a sharp 52-28 victory on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
Despite the loss, El Camino still got an impressive performance from Gavin Wasserman, who threw for 402 yards and four TDs while picking up 13.0 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 30 yards. The Wildcats' leading receiver Omega Cruise was Wasserman's top target yet again, picking up 207 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Poway's win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points over those games. As for El Camino, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
