In what's become a running theme this season, the Phoenix Country Day Eagles gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They blew past Horizon Honors 59-20 at home. Winning may never get old, but Phoenix Country Day sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Leading Phoenix Country Day to victory were Aila Kaibara and Olivia Owens. Kaibara scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Owens dropped a triple-double on 20 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals. Owens also posted eight+ assists for the first time this season. Madison Gordon was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Despite the defeat, Horizon Honors saw an underclassman step up: Audriana Anglada scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Phoenix Country Day pushed their record up to 14-3 with that win, which was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 39.88 points. As for Horizon Honors, their loss ended a 15-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-6.
Phoenix Country Day won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Camp Verde at 5:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Camp Verde focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Wednesday. As for Horizon Honors, they will be playing at home against Chandler Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Chandler Prep will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Horizon Honors is ranked 80th).
