There's no place like home for the Holy Cross Knights, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-34 victory over Texas School for the Deaf on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Holy Cross, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Holy Cross found their leader in underclassman Kiandra Cirlos, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Arugello, who scored eight points.
Despite the loss, Texas School for the Deaf still got an impressive performance from Jeanique Davis, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Davis scored 15 or more points.
Holy Cross has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Texas School for the Deaf, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.
Holy Cross will head out on the road to take on Incarnate Word Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Incarnate Word Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Holy Cross surely won't give up without a fight. As for Texas School for the Deaf, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against John Paul II at 4:30 p.m. Hopefully Texas School for the Deaf focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday.
