The Great Bridge Wildcats will challenge the Western Branch Bruins at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Great Bridge came out on top against Nansemond River on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Warriors. The Wildcats have beaten the Warriors the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Warriors has come to flipping the script.

Dayton House looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Casey Cuddyer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Andrew Griffin was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Western Branch, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against Lakeland on Tuesday as they made off with an 8-2 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bruins as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Ian Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Logan Adams was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Kincaid, who earned two runs and three stolen bases.
Western Branch's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Great Bridge, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
