The White House Blue Devils will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Portland Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as White House comes in on four and the Panthers on three.
Even though White House has not done well against the Bison recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. White House came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bison and snuck past 48-46. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points White House has scored all year.
White House got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dawson Carson out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Romeo Cantrell, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Portland beat the Tigers 39-31 on Friday. Given Portland's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Tigers are ranked 360th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
White House is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Portland, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.
White House took a serious blow against the Panthers in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 76-39. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point White House was down 42-15.
