Basketball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Hamtramck's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Hamtramck saw some tournament action on Thursday. They walked away with a 71-59 win over the South Bulldogs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cosmos.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Saviontay Vancleaf, who posted 14 points. Those 14 points gave Vancleaf a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Griffin, who had 14 points.

Hamtramck has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points per game. As for South, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Hamtramck and East Kentwood will round out the year against one another at at 4:55 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in East Kentwood's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests. As for South, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-44 victory against Redford Union on the 27th.
