The Tipton Blue Devils put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Covenant Christian as Tipton made off with a 79-57 victory. Given Tipton's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Covenant Christian is ranked 68th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Tipton to victory were Grady Carpenter and Nolan Swan. Carpenter dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 assists, while Swan scored 26 points along with five assists and four steals. The game was Swan's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Money, who scored 16 points.
Tipton pushed their record up to 6-0 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Covenant Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tipton will be home for the holidays to greet Lewis Cass at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Covenant Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Heritage Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
