The Southern Boone Eagles have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a rough 76-39 loss at the hands of Battle. Southern Boone was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-10.
Battle was led to victory by Vernell Holt and Tate Mccubbin. Holt scored 21 points along with five rebounds, while Mccubbin almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyion Cross, who scored eight points.
Southern Boone's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Battle, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern Boone's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Hallsville at 8:00 p.m. on February 9th. Battle will take on Helias at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Battle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Saturday.
