The Robertson Cardinals were the 34-29 winner over the Albuquerque Academy Chargers when they last played one another back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. Robertson fell 54-41 to Albuquerque Academy on Thursday.
Robertson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alyxa King-Greenwalt, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Natalia Martinez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Albuquerque Academy found their leader in underclassman Addie Spratley, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Spratley has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ashton Capps, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Robertson's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Albuquerque Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Robertson won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Moriarty at 2:00 p.m. on January 12th. Moriarty is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Albuquerque Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against St. Pius X at 5:15 p.m. on January 12th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (St. Pius X is ranked 15th, while Albuquerque Academy is ranked 31st).
