The Lake Country Lutheran Lightning came tearing into Saturday's contest with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 79-69 win over Brookfield Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Carter Leibham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 33 points along with five assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Daniel Cleary, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
Lake Country Lutheran's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. As for Brookfield Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Country Lutheran will challenge Kenosha Christian Life at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Country Lutheran knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 matches -- so hopefully Kenosha Christian Life likes a good challenge. As for Brookfield Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Pius XI Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Pius XI Catholic's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
