Basketball Recap: North Summit Makes It 15 in a Row at Home

North Summit extended their postseason success on Friday against Draper APA. They walked away with a 53-44 win over the Draper APA Eagles. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Leading North Summit to victory were Ellie Stephens and Hayzlyn Murdock. Stephens dropped a double-double with 18 points and 15 boards, while Murdock dropped a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Stephens is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Hartlynn Richins, who posted 14 points along with seven boards and three steals.

North Summit smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Loss or not, Draper APA got some senior leadership from Samantha Kartchner and Aaliyah Baldwin. Kartchner dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Baldwin went 7-for-17 on her way to 17 points and four steals. Draper APA is 17-3 when Kartchner posts ten or more boards, but 2-3 otherwise.

North Summit pushed their record up to 25-1 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.1 points over those games. As for Draper APA, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-6.

North Summit has already played their next matchup (against South Sevier), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Draper APA, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-34 loss against Kanab on the 22nd.
