It was a good run, but the Spanish Springs Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a rough 70-37 loss at the hands of College Park.
Spanish Springs lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Caleb Thomas, who scored eight points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cameron Washington, who scored six points.
Spanish Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for College Park, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-2.
Spanish Springs won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Northgate at 12:40 p.m. on December 28th. Northgate will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 234th in California, while Spanish Springs is ranked 32nd in Nevada). College Park will finish 2023 at home by hosting La Costa Canyon at 5:25 p.m. on Thursday. La Costa Canyon knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully College Park likes a good challenge.
