Omaha Westside and Millard North are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Warriors will host the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Omaha Westside is coming into the game hot, having won their last 17 games.
Omaha Westside is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Standing Bear, who was ranked 12th at the time (Omaha Westside was ranked first). The Warriors won by a run and slipped past the Grizzlies 7-6.
Ty Hanna and Duncan Hasnen did most of the damage at the plate: Hanna went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Hasnen went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits Hasnen has posted since April 2nd. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Schleifer, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Millard North was a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They fell just short of Westview by a score of 3-2. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Millard North also got a good showing from Major Mosser, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the first time Mosser hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in March.
On the hitting side, Jackson Smith made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Omaha Westside's win bumped their record up to 24-2. As for Millard North, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Omaha Westside has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Millard North struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
