The King Wolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Ygnacio Valley by a score of 71-68. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (55), King still had to take the loss.
King lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mathias Tinker, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. James Harrell was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, King were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ygnacio Valley only racked up 11 assists.
Ygnacio Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Antonio Kellogg Jr, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Kellogg Jr's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Todd Tatom Jr, who scored 19 points.
King has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Ygnacio Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. King will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Roosevelt has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,282 points over their last 16 contests. As for Ygnacio Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Dublin at 7:00 p.m.
