St. Dominic is 8-2 against St. Francis Borgia since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Crusaders will welcome the Knights at 4:00 p.m. St. Dominic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
St. Dominic is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Timberland just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 9-6 to the T-Wolves.
Cooper Montgomery made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Eggering, who went 3-for-4 with one double.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, St. Francis Borgia brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They blew past St. Pius X 10-2 on Monday. The Knights not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8th (when they won 9-1).
Henry Zeitzmann tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lane Mallinckrodt, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double. He has become a key player for St. Francis Borgia: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-10 otherwise. Braxtyn Frankenberg was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
St. Francis Borgia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Pius X only managed six hits.
St. Dominic's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6-1. As for St. Francis Borgia, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
St. Dominic skirted past St. Francis Borgia 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
