Adams County Christian's Lester Wells recorded the longest rushing play in MAIS AA District 5 this season in his game against Brookhaven Academy last week. Wells scampered for 90 yards on the play and finished with 142 on the day as his team bested the Cougars.
Adams County Christian added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Brookhaven Academy, 14-8. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Wells was a passing and rushing force as the Rebels bested Tripp McCarty's team.
Tyler Stockstill and Wells gave Adams County Christian a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Stockstill threw for 62 yards and 1 touchdown, while Wells ran for 142 yards. Teammate Torrey Smith added to the ground attack by rushing for 80 yards.
The Cougars' Heath Hickman and Jacob Thurman led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Hickman has thrown for 1,232 yards this season, while Thurman has 29 catches for 387 yards. The Rebels' Wells leads the league in rushing yards with 767.
Adams County Christian and Brookhaven Academy played the most contested game in MAIS AA District 5 this week, with Adams County Christian eventually emerging with a 14-8 victory. Wells caught 1 pass for 50 yards in the win.
