There's no place like home for the Hargrave Military Academy Tigers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They took down Word of God Christian Academy 80-61 on Saturday. Given Hargrave Military Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 46th in Virginia, while the Holy Rams are ranked 195th in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hargrave Military Academy had a senior duo take command as Dante Kearse dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds and Ashton Hammock went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hammock has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jalen Carter, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Hargrave Military Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Word of God Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hargrave Military Academy and the Eagles will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Oak Ridge Military Academy will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Word of God Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully New Life Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday.
