4A District 4 recap September 17, 2013
Justin Lewis and Dakoda Hammock provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Tavares. The longest such play in 4A District 4 this season, the connection resulted in 53 yards.
The Villages Charter moved up to 420 from 456 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Buffalo were able to make move up by beating Taylor 50-0.
Austin Bush was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 142 yards on 19 carries as Umatilla fell to the Bulldogs. Josh Enfinger also contributed to the rushing game with 14 yards on the ground.
Madden was the best receiver in 4A District 4 this week as the Bulldogs lost to Tavares. Madden tallied 6 receptions for 57 yards.
Blake Valenzuela threw for 106 yards and 34 touchdowns.
Bush provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Umatilla fell to Chris Gauntlett's team.
Valenzuela put up the best numbers in passing as Keystone Heights lost to Union County. Valenzuela's favorite target this week was Brighton Gibbs, who caught 2 passes for 39 yards.
On the heels of Lewis and Bush, Rodney Torrance's team has had great success on offense. Lewis is tops in the league in passing with 210 yards, while Bush has rushed for 193 yards this season. Tops in the league in receving yards is the Indians' Gibbs, with 96 yards on 5 catches.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Keystone Heights' Gibbs goes up against the Bulldogs' Madden.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when The Villages Charter takes on Bradford. Richard Pettus' team is in first place, while the Tornadoes are in fifth place.
Interlachen fell to Menendez 72-9 last week, the largest margin of any game.
