Moore is 0-3 against Bixby since October of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Lions will face off against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Moore was just a hair shy of victory and fell 36-35 to Mustang. The Lions gained 201 more yards on the day, but it was the Broncos that made the best use of them.
Despite their defeat, Moore saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Maverick Gardner, who rushed for 112 yards and one TD on only 13 carries, and also threw for 201 yards and one touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. Ozias Adams also helped out as he racked up 115 rushing yards.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Moore, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Daniel Price, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Moore's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Price, Braylon Henry, and George Blevins, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Bixby put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Jenks for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-35 victory. The score was close at halftime, but the Spartans pulled away in the second half with 28 points.
Moore better focus on containing Jayson Moll and Carson Kirby as the pair were huge in Bixby's win. Moll rushed for 278 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, while Kirby threw for 266 yards and six touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. With that strong performance, Moll is now averaging an impressive 123.8 rushing yards per game. Cetcher DeHart was in the mix too, providing Bixby with two TDs.
Moore's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Bixby, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Moore took a serious blow against Bixby when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 49-7. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Lions were down 22-0.
