The Southeast Alamance Stallions will square off against the Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Southeast Alamance is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 70.7 points per game this season.
Southeast Alamance is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Burlington Christian Academy just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Monday. They lost to the Royals at home by a 65-51 margin. The game marked the Stallions' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brandon Mcadoo, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerry Sims, who earned 16 points along with seven boards and three steals.
Even though they lost, Southeast Alamance smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Bartlett Yancey was not able to break out of their rough patch back in December of 2024 as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by Northwood 69-33. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 401st, while the Chargers are ranked 29th).
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Kentrell Willis and Cam Fowler. Fowler had a great game and went 7 of 11 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Meanwhile, Willis did his best for the losing side, putting up eight points.
Bartlett Yancey's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Southeast Alamance, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Southeast Alamance has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Bartlett Yancey struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Southeast Alamance beat Bartlett Yancey 76-65 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Southeast Alamance repeat their success, or does Bartlett Yancey have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
