The Marlboro County Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Lake City Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 18 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Marlboro County and six for the Panthers.
Last Friday, Marlboro County was beaten by the Bulldogs 114-15. Marlboro County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-7.
Meanwhile, Lake City lost to the Falcons on the road by a decisive 58-42 margin on Friday. Lake City has not had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Marlboro County dropped their record down to 0-17 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.1 points per game. As for Lake City, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Marlboro County came up short against the Panthers when the teams last played back in January, falling 47-36. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lake City's Jayda Burgess, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Now that Marlboro County knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
