Despite the defeat, Potsdam saw an underclassman step up: Ian VanWagner scored 34 points. VanWagner scored a full 64.2% of Potsdam's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ilahn Maroun was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Heuvelton Central pushed their record up to 1-3 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.5 points. As for Potsdam, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heuvelton Central will finish 2023 at home by hosting Northeastern Clinton at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Northeastern Clinton is ranked 435th, while Heuvelton Central is ranked 442nd). Potsdam will finish 2023 at home by hosting Tupper Lake at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
