Legacy is a perfect 3-0 against Boulder since September of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Lightning will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 12:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Legacy has three straight wins, Boulder has 18 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Legacy got the win against Fairview by a conclusive 14-1. Considering the Lightning have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Prisca Smolens was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Elkins, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
Legacy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .735. The last time their OBP was this high was back in September of 2024.
Meanwhile, Boulder started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Mountain Range. They came up short against the Mustangs on Thursday, falling 15-1.
Boulder saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alissa Zacharewicz, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Boulder's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Legacy, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Boulder's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Legacy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. It's a different story for Boulder, though, as they've only averaged .250. Will they be able to contain Legacy's hitters?
Everything went Legacy's way against Boulder when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Legacy made off with a 13-3 win. Will the Lightning repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
