Northwest is 0-6 against Mamou since March of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Raiders will welcome the Demons at 4:00 p.m. Northwest has given up an average of 24.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Northwest was handed a 16-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Carencro, sneaking past 19-18. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their one-run performance the match before.
Meanwhile, Mamou waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 9-1 win. Considering the Demons have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jaidan Richard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Kamryn Fontenot was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Rhylee Guillory, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Mamou kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.
Mamou pushed their record up to 10-12-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Northwest, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
Northwest suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Mamou in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
