Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wickenburg). Everything went their way against the Gilbert Classical Academy Spartans on Monday as they made off with a 22-0 win. The Wranglers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by 12 runs or more this season.
Sydney Anderson and Maleigh Colvin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Anderson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Colvin pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Anderson got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Colvin went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Kaytlyn Lopez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynlee Meister, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double.
Wickenburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The victory got Wickenburg back to even at 9-9. As for Gilbert Classical Academy, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.
