They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 80-69 loss to Los Alamitos. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (67), Laguna Beach still had to take the loss.
Laguna Beach's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Mack Thompson, who scored 15 points, and Dylan Mceachern who scored 16 points. The game was Mceachern's 19th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Cheng, who scored ten points.
Laguna Beach bumped their record down to 11-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Los Alamitos, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Laguna Beach will be playing in front of their home fans against Edison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edison presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Laguna Beach in California (Edison is ranked 24th, while Laguna Beach is ranked 197th). As for Los Alamitos, they will head out on the road to face off against Marina at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
