Fernley and Lowry are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2023, but likely not for long. The Vaqueros will face off against the Buckaroos at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Fernley will be strutting in after a victory while Lowry will be coming in after a defeat.
Fernley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past North Valleys 20-4. Considering the Vaqueros have won 15 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Taylor Tollestrup was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. That's the most hits she has posted over her last ten contests. Ximena Rodriguez was another key player, going 4-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fernley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Lowry faced Churchill County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Buckaroos fell 13-8 to the Greenwave. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Buckaroos, who until this game were averaging 3.82 runs allowed.
Natalya Guizar made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Adalyn Entwistle, who went 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI.
Fernley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Lowry, with the loss, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 26-7.
Both Fernley and Lowry just can't seem to miss. The Vaqueros have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.5 hits per game. However, it's not like Lowry struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fernley came up short against Lowry in their previous matchup on Thursday, falling 5-2. Can the Vaqueros avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
