The Greenfield/Northwestern Tigers will be playing at home against the Nokomis Redskins at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Greenfield/Northwestern will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak alive.
Greenfield/Northwestern stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 54-6 victory over Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia on the road. 54 seems to be a good number for Greenfield/Northwestern as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Kohen Vetter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while also picking up 65 receiving yards. Dylan Pembrook was another key contributor, throwing for 196 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes.
Nokomis fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They enjoyed a cozy 41-23 win over Sangamon Valley/Tri-City on Friday.
It was another big night for Nolan Herpstreith, who rushed for 350 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per carry. Herpstreith was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 62 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Daryl Evans, who rushed for 52 yards and three touchdowns.
Nokomis' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. Leading the way was Caleb Bauer and his three sacks.
Their wins bumped Greenfield/Northwestern to 9-0 and Nokomis to 5-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's match: Greenfield/Northwestern has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 208.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Nokomis struggles in that department as they've been even better at 324 per game. It's looking like Saturday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
