Section 11 Division I recap Oct. 23, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to William Floyd, who took down 72nd ranked William Floyd, 28-10.
Bay Shore moved up to 291 from 347 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 11 Division I. The Marauders climbed the ranks as a result of besting Sachem East 40-0.
Bay Shore's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jake Sheets threw for 26 and one touchdown and McKinley Skinner had 32 yards receiving. On the ground Matthias Eato chipped in 201 yards. Joel Nunez helped Bay Shore's passing attack out by catching one ball for 26 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback A.j. Otranto of the Colonials is the league leader in passing yards this season with 929. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. On the ground, Jim Giattino's team's Eato has rushed for 979 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Skinner. The Bay Shore star has 24 catches for 534 yards.
The Marauders' Eato needs only 21 yards against Patchogue-Medford next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Connetquot takes on Sachem North. The T-Birds are in first place, while Sachem North is in fourth place.
Connetquot extended the longest winning streak in Section 11 Division I this week by beating Central Islip, 48-7. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
