Highland Tech is 0-6 against East Gaston since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Highland Tech Rams will head out on the road to take on the East Gaston Warriors at 6:00 p.m. Highland Tech will be strutting in after a victory while East Gaston will be coming in after a loss.
Highland Tech posted their biggest win yet this season on Wednesday. They blew past Sugar Creek 55-16 at home. Given Highland Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while Sugar Creek is ranked 603rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Addie McCraw was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Maiers, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, East Gaston's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 73-33 defeat at the hands of Bessemer City. East Gaston has struggled against Bessemer City recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Highland Tech's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for East Gaston, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-12.
Highland Tech came up short against East Gaston in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 38-29. Can Highland Tech avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
