Jack Burns was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Hensley, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.
While Aurora Central Catholic didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Woodstock on Thursday. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by seven runs or more this season.
Liam Schwartz looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Aurora Central Catholic got a massive performance out of Jackson Michels, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Brodie Curry was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Aurora Central Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodstock only posted a batting average of .235.
Aurora Central Catholic's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Aurora Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Aurora Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Aurora Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Aurora Christian couldn't quite finish off Aurora Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
