There's no place like home for Rhodes, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the John Hay Hornets with a sharp 17-3 win on Thursday. Considering the Rams have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jose Trejo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Trejo was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Manuel Villaran was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Jesus Cardenas was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Rhodes' victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for John Hay, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4-1.
